Article Summary
- Contact Us
A complete list of ways your website visitors can contact you. You decide how you prefer to be contacted from the following possibilities: physical address, phone numbers (office, fax, cell), e-mail address, IM (Instant Messaging) ID, an online form they can fill in and submit. Consider placing contact info on each page as well.
- Testimonials
You may think that having a testimonials page seems self-serving, but people will look for it. If they can't find it, they may figure you can't find anyone to say nice things about you.
- Privacy Policy
Web users are more concerned about online safety and privacy than ever before. If you collect private data from your visitors via a web form, a privacy policy is an absolute must. The Better Business Bureau website has a good sample privacy policy you can use as a guide.
- FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) assure that you don't have to answer the same questions over and over. Saves you time and money by letting your customers serve themselves.
- A "gimme" page
If you want visitors to give you personal information, such as their e-mail address to subscribe to your newsletter, you need to give them something in exchange - something they'll find valuable: an informative report, discount coupons, a chance to win, etc.
- About Us
Because web site visitors may never meet you or your business in person, they still want to know who they are dealing with. Revealing who's behind the web site, explaining your expertise and qualifications, may go a long way in building trust.
- Confirmation
If you sell online or request users to submit information, you need a good confirmation page that ackowledges receipt of the order/information and thanks the visitor for their business. This will create additional trust and prevent online customers from calling to verify their submission went through.
